To me, this is the perfect healthy breakfast idea. Make a multivitamin smoothie for kids every morning and feel good knowing they are starting the day full of nutrition. Every time I take my kids to the pediatrician I get this reminder. Are you giving your kids a multivitamin? Before we dive into my favorite “level-up” smoothie ingredients, I just need to run through a few quick notes. First and most important, please talk to your pediatrician before giving your kids any supplements (including a multivitamin), especially if they’re taking any medications or have preexisting medical conditions. Even something as seemingly innocent as probiotics or extra vitamins can interact with certain prescriptions or worsen some medical issues.

Second, don’t add all of these to every smoothie. Read through the benefits of each one and choose the right ones at the right times for your kids based on your pediatrician’s recommendations. Last, I used affiliate links where I recommended products. 1. Probiotics & Prebiotics

Probiotics help maintain good gut health, making them a great add-on for any smoothie. They’re especially beneficial for kids with digestive issues, such as constipation and IBS. I recommend choosing a supplement that also contains prebiotics. If you’re confused about the difference, probiotics are living beneficial bacteria while prebiotics are basically food for those microorganisms.

2. Liquid Iron

According to the World Health Organization, roughly 42% of kids worldwide have an iron deficiency. If your kids are among them, adding liquid iron to their multivitamin smoothies may help. However, it’s super important to talk to your pediatrician first. Contrary to what some believe, it is entirely possible to overdose on supplements, and too much iron can cause a myriad of health problems.

Ingredients

1 cup liquid of choice (water, coconut water, any type of milk or yogurt)

1/2 cup frozen fruit of choice

1/2 cup frozen or fresh vegetable of choice

2 tbspns Kids Natural Calm Multi


Instructions

Blend all the ingredients together in a high speed blender. 

If you want to make a smoothie with just fruit, add 1 cup in total (for one serving). You can add the multivitamin afterwards, to each glass, if making more than one serving. 

I recommend using coconut water or almond milk for best tasting results.

Serve and drink right away.
