Creative Lunchbox Ideas For Your Kids

The daily struggle. What to pack for my kid’s lunch. In my opinion, the best lunchbox idea is to send dinner leftovers from the night before. A hot, balanced meal is what kids really deserve. But sometimes my family doesn’t leave any leftovers and I don’t have any more food to send to school.

Here you will find some of my favorite recipes, and the pictures of the lunches I usually send for my kids when we don’t have any leftovers. Finding healthy options in your kitchen that your kids can have for lunch without sending a plain sandwich that contains little to no nutrition.

I really do not like the idea of sandwiches for my kid’s school lunch. Here is why:

First of all, most of them are made with deli meats. According to the World Health Organization, eating lots of processed meat can cause cancer. SOURCE. Kid’s sandwiches usually do not include any vegetables. You get in the bad habit of sending the same sandwich over and over again. And finally, your kids get used to eating fast food, instead of real nutritious stuff.

Think Variety, different flavors, think sandwich free lunchbox ideas! How are we going to get our kids to expand their palates sending the same sandwich to school everyday?

A ham and cheese sandwich every single day with deli meat and white bread is not the best option! There is basically no nutrition, and lots of artificial ingredients and preservatives.

I try to keep sandwich lunches to a minimum, and send them only once a week or every other week. We really don’t eat white bread, and I always choose whole grains. Multi grain, or multi seed breads are better options. Instead of mayonnaise, spread it with hummus. Oh, and make sure I choose a deli meat free of chemicals. Like my favorite brand, Applegate.

After trying many containers, the LunchBots Thermal 16 oz. container is the best one and keeps my kid’s food warm for hours! It is really the perfect size for a full meal.
